It’s no secret that the Eagles have been bitten hard by the injury bug so far in the 2018 season, and that trend continued with a host of absences at Wednesday’s practice.
The Darren Sproles situation is particularly concerning, as there seemed to be a near-consensus that he would be ready to return for Week 3’s matchup with the Colts. Not only did he miss the Colts game, but also last week’s game against the Titans, and now he appears unlikely to be ready for Week 5. Whether the injury was worse than originally thought or is just taking longer than expected to heal, it’s not great news for Sproles and the Eagles.
The pair of running backs weren't the only notable Eagles to miss practice on Wednesday, unfortunately.
Wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, who had a stellar performance in his first action of the season last week, was absent from practice on Wednesday.
In addition, the defensive line had some key members missing at Wednesday's practice.
Currently there are few details on the absences of Cox, Barnett, and Jeffery, so we will be not-so-patiently waiting for the injury report to come out. Hopefully it's nothing serious for this trio, but it's something to keep an eye on the rest of the week.
