Jobs are on the line tonight as the Philadelphia Eagles prepare to play their preseason finale against the New York Jets. There's only a few spots up for grabs, so with that in mind here are five players to keep a close eye on as they seem to have a roster spot close to their grasp.
DEs Daeshon Hall, Shareef Miller, Josh Sweat
Earlier this week Doug Pederson said that these three players are fighting for "one spot", however it isn't clear if he meant that there is only one spot available and the team is only keeping four defensive ends, or if he meant there is only one spot left in the actual defensive end rotation while they still plan on keeping two of these players.
So far Hall has shown the most this preseason out of these three, but Miller hasn't been too shabby either. Sweat was expected to take a leap this preseason but so far he hasn't shown much (although the Eagles invested a higher draft pick in Sweat than they did in the others so he still might have an advantage thanks to that). These guys will get plenty of snaps tonight, so this is their last chance to show what they are made of.
RBs Josh Adams, Wendell Smallwood
These players will be interesting to watch, but not because they have a chance to make the Eagles roster. The Eagles seem to be set at running back with Miles Sanders, Jordan Howard, Darren Sproles, and Corey Clement. Adams and Smallwood will be interesting to watch because now that Houston Texans running back Lamar Miller torn his ACL, the Texans are in desperate need of a running back. The Eagles are in talks with the Texans regarding Jadeveon Clowney, so a big performance from one of these running backs might end up help a trade go through between the two teams.
