38 Eagles Presumed to Be Sitting Out of Preseason Finale

Tonight the Eagles will be playing their final preseason game when they take on the New York Jets. The final preseason game is usually when the players who already did enough to make the team sit out so that all the other players on the bubble can get one last shot to prove they deserve one of the final roster spots.

A big group of players did conditioning on the field an hour ago, which is usually the group that will not put on pads and secured roster spots. Here is a look at the 38 players who were seen on the field earlier this afternoon.

One of the most surprising names on this list is Orlando Scandrick. Scnadrick was added to the roster after Cre'Von LeBlanc went down with a foot injury that might cost him the first few weeks of the season. It appears the team thinks the veteran corner can still play at a high level and provide depth for the slot corner position.

Another surprising name is Johnathan Cyprien, who was also added to the Eagles roster later during Training Camp. It looks like the Eagles want to have a mostly veteran safety group this season and avoid what happened in 2018 when rookies and inexperienced players were pressed into playing key moments in the secondary.

Two more interesting names on this list are L.J. Fort and Nate Gerry, who appear to have secured their roster spots and will be in the linebacker room for Week 1. T.J. Edwards has had a fantastic preseason and will get one more game to continue to shine, but Edwards' fate might have already been decided.
