2022 Week 14 Injury Report: Eagles vs Giants

The 11-1 Philadelphia Eagles travel to New York to face the Giants in a key NFC East battle. The Eagles enter this game with just no major injuries on their 53-man roster, but still have a few key contributors on injured reserve. The Giants roster is depleted due to a multitude of injuries.

Here's a look at the Week 14 injury report for the Eagles:

LB Shaun Bradley (hamstring)

Bradley is a key piece on special teams, a unit that finally had a productive game against the Titans. Maybe this will open up a bigger role for practice squad call-up Christian Elliss, who will likely be called up again for Sunday's game.

*Avonte Maddox (IR - hamstring)

Maddox had his practice window activated this week, meaning he has 21 days to either return to the field or be done for the season. He seems ready to play in Sunday's game, so there's a chance he is activated before 4PM Saturday to make it official. If him and the team want to play it safe though he could wait another week or two to come back to the field.

S C.J. Gardner-Johnson (kidney)

CJGJ was diagnosed with a lacerated kidney, which is a pretty unpredictable injury. He was placed on IR which means he's out at least 3 more games, and with the Eagles likely to have clinched their playoff seed by then he would be wise to sit out the final two games to be fully healthy and fresh for the playoffs as possible. UDFA Reed Blankenship has filled in well in the 1.5 games he's played so far.

DE Robert Quinn (knee)

Quinn has been invisible since he was acquired before the trade deadline. He was placed on IR which means he can't come back to the roster until the season finale. Maybe he gets to play that game as a warmup for the playoffs. Thankfully the other pass rushers have picked up the slack and the Eagles currently are tied for the 2nd-most sacks in the NFL.

*TE Dallas Goedert (IR - shoulder)

The exact type of shoulder injury Goedert suffered hasn’t been revealed yet, but we know he is out until at least the middle of December since he is required to miss at least 4 games when placed on IR. The Eagles don’t have a surefire #2 tight end behind Goedert. Jack Stoll has played a lot of snaps this year but he has basically been a blocker (although he had 3 receptions in the Titans game so maybe Hurts is starting to trust him). Grant Calcaterra has just three receptions this year. QB-turned-TE Tyree Jackson has also taken some snaps.

*DT Marlon Tuipulotu (IR - knee)

Tuipulotu was supposed to be the fill-in NT for Jordan Davis but suffered a season-ending knee injury. The 2021 6th-round pick wasn’t terrible but wasn’t impressive either in his increased role. The Eagles added Linval Joseph and Ndamukong Suh to replace Davis and Tuipulotu, and now with Davis active again the team is now deep at the DT position.

*DE Derek Barnett (ACL)

Barnett tore his ACL in Week 1 and is out for the rest of the season.

Here's a look at the Giants' injury report:

CB Adoree Jackson (knee)

Jackson is the Giants' best cornerback, and he has missed the Giants' last two games that Holmes and McCloud are also dealing with injuries, so the Eagles could have another big passing game.

OL Joshua Ezeudu (neck)

Rookie 3rd-round pick has filled in as a starter at LG this year playing 43% of the team’s offensive snaps so far in 2022, but will be inactive for Sunday’s game.

OL Shane Lemieux (toe)

Lemieux only played one game so far this season (Week 11). With him and Ezeudu out, Nick Gates is next on the depth chart. Gates has started last two games for the Giants at LG. There’s a chance LG Ben Bredeson (who is on IR) could be activated for this game. The Giants would have to do it by 4PM Saturday.

DT Leonard Williams (neck)

Doubtful means to expect Williams out for the game or at best being in for a limited amount of snaps. Henry Mondeaux has been a part of the DL rotation for the Giants all year (11 tackles, 1 TFL). Justin Ellis has been a part of the DL rotation as well (16 tackles, 2 TFLs, 1 QB hit).

RB Saquon Barkley (neck)

Barkley surprisingly popped up on the injured list on Thursday, and the injury is enough to make him questionable for Sunday. With this feeling like a do-or-die game for the Giants, Barkley will do whatever he can to be active on Sunday. If he can’t go or is limited in his role, then Matt Brieda is the next man up on the depth chart at RB for the Giants. Brieda is only averaging 3.3 YPC on 34 carries this season.

*OG Ben Bredeson (IR - DFR): Bredeson started the first seven games for the Giants at LG. The Giants activated his 21-day window for return but he has not yet been elevated from IR. He could be activated on Saturday in time for Sunday’s game.

*WR Sterling Shepard (IR): Shepard was Daniel Jones' top passing target the first month of the season, but he was lost for the season with a torn ACL.

*WR Wan'Dale Robinson (IR): Robinson is a rookie who was starting to figure out his game at the end of November when he had 9 catches for 100 yards against the Lions, but suffered a season-ending torn ACL in the game.

*WR Collin Johnson (IR): Johnson suffered a torn Achilles in training camp.

*DT Nick Williams (IR): Williams started the first seven games for the Giants at DT, but wasn’t productive. He landed on IR with a likely season-ending biceps injury.

*DT D.J. Davidson (IR): Rotational DT.

*CB Aaron Robinson (IR): Robinson was a Week 1 starter but suffered a likely season-ending knee injury.

*S Xavier McKinney (NFI): McKinney is a starting safety for the Giants. He broke his hand in an ATV accident during the Giants' bye week and has missed the last four games. He is currently on the non-football injury list.
